Tim Birkhead is zo’n schrijver, niet “een naam” als het gaat om vogels maar “de naam”. In The Wisdom of Birds behandelt hij alle aspecten van vogels, iets dat hij later ook doet in Zintuigen van Vogels, Vogeleieren, en Ten Thousand Birds. Birkhead combineert zijn persoonlijke verhalen over veldstudies met wetenschappelijke stukken over vogels en weet de lezer vast te houden in het aantrekkelijke geheel. Een aanrader voor iedereen die geïnteresseerd is in natuurwetenschappen en in vogels.
